Hitting 30 is no fun. …at first. But to tell you the truth, you’ll feel more feminine and confident than you ever did in your 20s. You don’t care about people’s opinions as much any more. You know what you want and you don’t hesitate to say no or to express your opinion. You know how to look your most confident self. You are YOU. The one thing you wish for is to have the same skin you had at the age of 20. Well, you can’t have it all but you can certainly maintain that fresh looking skin for another decade with the right products and consistent care. Let’s see what are the best skin care secrets in your 30s ?
1. be religious about your skin care routine
Being in your 30s also means no more “I was too tired to remove my make up.“! No more excuses! Your skin has gotten to a point where it’s going to ruthlessly show any lack of sleep or if you don’t do a thorough cleanse. A gentle cleanse, toner and moisturizer are must haves in the mornings and evenings.
2. mind the ingredients of your products
Choose products that contain vitamin A, C and E, antioxidants and hyaluronic acid. These are must have ingredients for a fresh, hydrated and even toned skin.
3. don’t go without sunscreen
Unprotected skin exposed to daylight is the number one cause of premature aging, which starts to show in your 30s. Make it a point to use either a moisturizer or a primer with SPF. And of course, never forget those sunglasses at home.
4. exfoliate
In your 30s you have to start getting serious about regular exfoliation. The cell turnover, and the metabolism of the cells starts to slow down. In order to maintain that glowing, fresh looking skin, make sure you use a facial scrub every other day to get rid of dead cells on your skin. Once a week I use an exfoliating mask to clear my pores and get a toned skin. I recently started applying a thin layer of Dead Sea Mud Mask once a week and it does a wonderful job exfoliating, cleaning my pores and purifying my skin.
5. invest in a good eye cream
The under eye area shows signs of aging first. Look for a product that has line filling peptides and wrinkle repair ingredients. When you apply the cream, use your ring finger, your weakest finger, mornings and evenings around your eyes with a gentle patting motion. Avoid rubbing and tugging.
6. facials
In your 20s it’s okay to see your aesthetician a couple times a year, however when you’re in your 30s I recommend to see a skin care professional every other month. An aesthetician can recommend products best for your skin plus it’s important that you get a thorough pore cleanse and deep hydration. Every couple of months do a sensi-peel to remove any dead cells, smoothen your skin and even out your skin tone.
7. drink water
A hydrated body means hydrated and plumpier skin. Green tea and fruit infused water is a great way to mix things up and keep yourself hydrated without the calorie intake.
8. sleep
Your skin becomes less and less forgetful as you age, so make sure to get enough sleep in. Not just to function better, but to look better. They don’t call it beauty sleep for nothing.
9. exercise
Make it a point to exercise for 30 minutes 3 times a week. Indulging in regular exercise will not only cleanse your skin but it will also nourish your blood cells. It helps to reduce stress and to flush out any toxins and waste products. It keeps your skin healthy overall.
10. dont’ skip your neck and decollete
Your face doesn’t stop at your neck. Give the same amount of love and care to your decollete and neck since they show signs of aging almost as soon as your skin under your eyes does. Also make sure to wear supportive bras, so those beautiful breasts don’t pull down the skin on your decollete which eventually causes wrinkles on that area.
