why don’t we brown-bag it more?

why don't we brown-bag it more; make your own lunch; http://redreticule.com

You love your lunch hour. Many times it’s the highlight of your working day. This is the time to catch up with friends or socialize with coworkers, and that diner across the street has the best quesadilla in town. Eating out for lunch every day is not just persecuting your diet, but spending $10 to $15 a day to have a quick lunch (let’s face it: many of us eat lunch mindlessly) is not something your checking account will be thankful for. So, why don’t we brown-bag it more?

We all have great excuses for not brown-bagging it more. I know I do!

1. I have no time!

Try making lunch while cooking dinner. I catch up with hubby, cook dinner and throw our lunch boxes together while dinner is cooking. That way I don’t have the excuse of not having the time any more.

2. I hate cooking!

That’s a tough one. If you get the itch even of the thought of cooking, then pick up a rotisserie chicken at the grocery store. It makes for a great spinach salad, sandwich or a wrap for the rest of the week.

3. I like to spend time with my coworkers

Team up with some of your coworkers for brown bagging and designate a day of the week to eat out for lunch. You may find yourself pinning each others recipes and exchanging easy and healthy recipe ideas.

4. There is no fridge at the office

Get a lunch bag with ice packs in it. There are all sorts of options out there that will keep your salad and water cool all day.

Once you change your habit, it will come so easy and you get to have some fun with your lunchbox. Here are some awesome lunchbox ideas if you need a little inspiration to get started.

When I started bringing my lunch almost every day and cut eating out out, I saved so much money and felt so much better! Good tips.

I make the same salad everyday for lunch. Everyone always laughs at me. I don’t know if it is cheap, since produce is expensive, but I do feel better than how I would after eating out for lunch everyday. Love your recommendations!

I try to brown bag at least 3x a week. I like knowing what I am eating and not ordering fast food.

There are so many great options out there that are packable and delicious, but you are right about it being tempting to grab something fast and hot!
