“I dress for myself. Not for the image, not for the public, not for the fashion, not for men.” – Marlene Dietrich
This quote from Marlene is more relevant these days than it’s ever been. We live in a time when you literally see that marketing push to buy everywhere you look. Not just in your favorite magazines, tv ads or stores, but your favorite social media channels and blogs that you started to follow five years ago because of their originality and unique voice.
Fast fashion is taking over and it’s constantly telling you to spend, spend, spend in emails / ads packaged in a clever way to make you feel like you actually save. Ya know, you really need to add that particular sweater or that cutesy coffee mug to your collection because they’re on a HUGE sale. Grab ’em while you can. …yeah, right.
I love fashion and I have a “problem” or, as I like to call it, a mild obsession when it comes to clothing. Fashion is inspiration to me. A little island that I can escape to and share my finds and perspective with you. Yet, as a fashion and style blogger I want to inspire you to find your own personal style and stick to it.
Make your style your signature!
Make your look memorable with whatever! Whether it’s the capri style pants, a pair of statement earrings or oxfords. Make it your own. Who cares whether you have the latest and the greatest? The latest and the greatest will oh, so old next month anyway.
