my daily rituals to reach my potential every day

my daily rituals to reach my potential every day - 1Since I’ve been married, my priorities changed some. Work life balance and spending quality time with my family and on my hobby have become just as important as giving my best at work every day. Hence, I make a conscious effort to be efficient and productive in the name of “work smart not hard“. Keeping in shape physically and planning my priorities for the day soon after getting out of bed have made the world of a difference.

These are my daily rituals to reach my potential every day:

1. drink water

Your body loses water while you sleep, so you’re naturally dehydrated in the morning. A glass of water when I wake up helps me starting my day fresh. Throughout the day I drink water or green tea to keep those little grey cells fresh and hydrated. It’s so easy to forget about drinking, especially when you have a full calendar! I trick myself by keeping a glass of water both at my right and my left hand side. So either way I look or reach for something, there’s a glass of water to remind me to drink.

2. define the top 3 priorities for the day

Every morning I ask myself, “What are the top three most important tasks that I will complete today?” I prioritize my day accordingly and don’t go to sleep unless I checked them all off my list (unless I cannot finish them due to circumstances out of my power).

3. the 50/10 rule

I’ve found that I am more efficient and faster by working in 50/10 increments. I work for 50 minutes on a task and take a break for 10 minutes. I walk away from my desk to go outside, call a family member or grab a snack from the cafeteria. Putting myself on a timer also pushes me not to get distracted and finish that task.

4. move and sweat daily

Regular movement keeps us healthy and alert. I don’t normally manage working out every day, but I make it a point to get a cardio in every other day. A vigorous workout is a great stress reliever and it boosts my mood.

5. express gratitude

This may sound so cliche, but gratitude is so important! Not just on certain days, but every day. It keeps you grounded and you learn to appreciate the things that so many of us take for granted.

6. reflect daily

An evening workout is to me the best time to replay my day. What did I accomplish? What’s still outstanding? Did I handle that situation the right way? This little bit of reflection time allows me be better the next day.                    my daily rituals to reach my potential every day

Great list! I know I need to drink more water, but my job makes it so hard…I go almost 5 hours without a bathroom break!

I love #3. It makes so much more sense since the human mind is incapable of nonstop focus. Well, mine is like that anyways :) thank you so much for sharing.

Ok first, this outfit is amazing. Second- I was just telling the husband how I need to drink more water. Since I’ve started working out, I’ve been waking up with headaches and I know it’s from dehydration. I love the idea of placing water in both directions! I also love the 50/10 rule! I think that’s why all day meetings make me crazy. Because I need just a couple minutes to recoup! Thanks for these tips!

Great list! I especially like how you complete the 3 items on your list before you go to bed. I am trying to get my mindset there, but I tend to gravitate towards sleep.
