how we don’t grow apart with opposite schedules

Quality time spent with your better half tends to drop down to the bottom of that priority list in the every day rat race. …add to it schedules that are totally opposite and you might only see your husband when he rolls out of the driveway heading to work as you’re rolling in. A lot of times I don’t get to see my hubby for days, and weekends spent together are rare occasions. Naturally we cherish any time spent together, whether it’s recharging at home or exploring something new.

You may expect here my “ultimate tips” on how we don’t grow apart with opposite schedules… To be honest with you, there is no magic trick. It’s plain and simple. We respect and love each other dearly and we both want to make each other happy. That’s the best recipe that drives us both.

One of the things that we take seriously is each other’s time. Whatever small window we are able to work out to see each other is “holy”. If I say, I’ll be there by 6PM, I sure do my best to finish work on time and not waste a minute powdering my nose. I have gotten the getting dressed and putting make up on process down to a science so no time is wasted there. My worst nightmare is a dead phone when I need to keep track of time, so I keep it “old school” and classy and wear a wrist watch. I can forget a lot of things, but putting my watch on every morning is not one of them. I think that a good quality watch is your best accessory and will stay with you for a lifetime. I like to wear minimalist style for work and something with a little added bling when I am about to “sweep my husband off his feet“. This silver watch with rose gold and Swarovski details from Armitron has caught my eye. It’s feminine, classic and its delicate size allows it to carry the added jewels without being too much.

how we don’t grow apart with opposite schedules

The only jewelry my husband will ever wear (besides his wedding band) is a wrist watch. He has built a neat collection of watches over the years and he can tell you a story of each of them. When it comes to going out and getting social, he likes to keep it classy and masculine. His choice is this silver tone classic piece with a black dial. The design is clean and simple and the black dial adds that hint of cool and modern without pushing the envelope too much. He calls himself a simple guy, yet when it comes to fashion he has very specific expectations and there is no wiggle room.

When it all comes down to it, any time spent together is time well spent. If we feel like playing homebodies, then we just do! Odd working hours throw off your system and the recovery time is longer. Plus you completely lose track of time. All that truly matters is that we are together.

I hope you all enjoy the occasional personal posts with the guy who made me jump to the other side of the pond.

That is so sweet :) My husband and I have been through the same phase of opposite schedules but we both quickly concluded that unless you’re a trauma surgeon or a firefighter and you’re needed to save lives, no job is worth spending time away from your loved one. Wonderful to see you still manage, despite conflicting schedules.

What a beautiful story, Bogi. My man and I try very hard to carve time for us too, which has become increasingly harder with 3 children aged 21, 18 and 17 in the picture :) our gym time is, for now, our holy grail times. Perhaps when the children have gone on to making their own homes, we’ll have a little more time for each other. That’ll be a bittersweet moment though huh :)

And on another note, my link-up is currently live, and I’d love for you to come
over and join in, Bogi, I truly hope to see you there xoxo
