Is it just me or do we all get more picky over time looking for unique products and accessories rather than just following current trends? Over the years, I have learned to appreciate hand crafted products and make an effort to support businesses and organizations in the country that I live in. …makes sense, right? It is so easy to get distracted in a world of fast fashion and social media that’s flooded with unfiltered promotion. Besides quality, aesthetics and value, the personal connection and the story behind the product has become more important to me when making the decision to purchase.

I wanted to introduce you today to a necklace designer from Connecticut, Pam Neri and the best platform of unique, handmade products, UnCommon Goods.

Probably so many of us dream about that perfect job, project, business, etc. that we feel we would strive in. Pam made it a reality for herself. A hobby of finding unique beads, designing and making statement necklaces is Pam’s “life lift” and now business. Her collection is striking; every piece has its own style and “personality”. The layers, the combination of colors and shapes are outstanding. What I especially love about her pieces is that as much as most of her necklaces are statement pieces, they remain feminine and don’t take over the entire outfit. They complement your look and some of these items can be worn in a corporate environment.

…and how about that gorgeous, rustic bangle? It is a handmade product sold via UnCommon Goods, a platform for artisans who are making and selling their products. You can find here the most unique, handmade jewelry, kitchen utensils, gifts and home decor items. The concept of UnCommon Goods is genius and frankly badly needed. This platform allows artisans to get exposure for their goods and sell them online without the hassle of traveling to shows, setting up their booths and basically incur a lot of upfront costs before they even get a chance to get their products in front of potential customers. I genuinely love the idea, especially since I simply don’t have the time to find and go to these shows to then maybe come across something I really like.

Sustainability is a priority for UnCommon Goods. They work with artists who use sustainable or recycled materials whenever possible including packaging.

Through the Better to Give  program allows customers to choose a partner for UnCommon Goods to donate $1 to with every order. How can you not love an organization like that?

Call me crazy, but Christmas has already entered my mind and I think this site is a great platform to start with to find unique and quality gifts for the family.

Wow! Thank you so much! This has made my day! The off the shoulder trend has pushed me out of my comfort zone a bit, but I am glad I gave it a try. I love to experiment with fashion trends and throw in some crazy outfits every now and then. I always appreciate your honest feedback on the outfits. Thank you, Julia!

Wow! Love how you took a classic white shirt/pencil skirt combo and gave it a bit of an edge using leather and the unique jewelry. Love the leopard belt too! The neutral clothing shows off all of the accent pieces perfectly. Thanks for the heads up on Uncommon Goods. I too prefer to shop local artisan or vintage whenever I can and they’ve got some beautiful things.

I am with you on the idea of having a unique handmade piece, especially from our own country (especially from my own state!) rather than a cookie cutter piece made in china. The necklace you chose is beautiful, and compliments your look perfectly.
