revive your casual 9 – 5

My two most favorite kinds of outfits are the classic cut sheath dresses and the jeans / tee / blazer / mid heel combination. Both of these looks are very easy to put together on busy mornings and they both give you a polished look. The first one highly professional, the second one a bit more relaxed with the right amount of serious.

I am sad to say that jeans are a no go on casual Fridays at my office, so I use every chance I get off-duty to wear this combination. The trick to keep your outfit no-fuss on a busy morning is to keep a couple pairs of straight cut jeans, an easy to maintain top (forget about button downs on Friday) and a comfortable blazer within arms reach. These closet elements are very versatile and pair with each other really well, especially since you can opt for bolder colors on a casual office day. I like to keep my jeans to a classic design, which is mostly boot cut, maybe skinny jeans (no cropped blazer in that case).

I personally think that dark wash, boot or straight cut jeans are the most appropriate for a business casual look, however if the dress code policy allows it, you can choose lighter wash jeans and maybe try a trendy version. Ripped and white jeans do not belong to an office environment in my mind. This pair of cropped jeans was a total steal for about $30 and they also come in a dark wash version. These jeans are the acceptable and subtle version of the “cropped, flared jeans” trend that has been going on. I thought that culottes were the worst things that fashion could do to women’s legs…
