the pirate top

It’s funny to watch people’s reaction when Rick and I shoot an ultra trendy outfit like this shirt. Some of the ladies at the coffee shop were like, “OMG! I love your top”. Then, there are those gentlemen staring at me with a completely bewildered look. And there certainly are also the people who just run out for a quick “poop walk” with their pups (expecting absolutely no surprises) and a giant, striped and puffy shirt walks towards them. I mean, this is better than caffeine. The quick recharge of their energy supplies is guaranteed.

the pirate top

The mile long belt and the puffy sleeves inspired Rick to call this a pirate top… In all seriousness though, this is indeed a super trendy statement piece, so I recommend to keep the rest of your outfit very, very simple. Adding a second trendy item to this shirt would make the outfit very confusing and there’s a good chance of being described as a clown.

This top is true to size, it has tons of volume on the sleeves and those wraps are a mile long, which gives you several options of either letting them long, making them into a giant bow for a fun element or just wrap them around your waist a couple of times. I love the neckline! I think that a V-neckline adds a subtle level of elegance to the look. The fabric is comfortable and if you are obsessed with stripes, you’ll have a lot of fun styling this blouse.

The way that I see it, the more men hate it, the more on trend it is and most likely I will love it more 😉

I am sort of speechless. I love it and I hate it at the same time, is that possible ? :) I want to say it’s fabulous, then I want to say I couldn’t be caught dead in it. I’m confused.
It is such a statement piece and I’d wear it with a plain white pencil skirt and nude peep-toe heels. Or with skinny jeans and Doc Martens, both in navy blue.
Love it or hate it, this Captain Jack Sparrow piece is really something but no matter how hard I try I can’t find Bogi in it ! LOL

What a fun top. It is a pirate top indeed, a fun, trendy, feminine, beautiful one. Love the oversized sash and big puffy sleeves. I agree with you, simple skinny jeans and black pumps is the way to go with this one. 😉

I love it, the larger billowy sleeves and sash make for such an eye catching look Bogi! You look fantastic in the dark denim too, with it. People are so funny when it comes to taking blog photos right?

Bogi, this pirate top makes such a statement; especially when everything else is kept pared down and simple. I have chosen your’s as one of my Featured Looks from last week’s My Refined Style Fashion Over 40 Linkup. I will be featuring you on my Tuesday fashion post.
