off the shoulder trend for work and play

The off the shoulder trend has been quite dominant this summer and it continues to be a top trend in the fall as well. I am not the biggest cheerleader of this trend, however I do like to experiment a little bit, especially with pieces that are comfortable and versatile. …just like this sweater. The beauty in this piece is that you can easily pull the shoulder part on to cover your shoulders and wear it like any other sweater. Since the chillier days are already here, I thought I would show you two ways to layer your favorite off the shoulder tops and make them work for different occasions.

In the first look, I paired the top with a polished button down shirt. The layering adds structure and interest to the look while the full outfit remains professional and office appropriate. The soft lavender pairs wonderfully with the navy wrap skirt and those pink stripes add a subtle pop to the look.

The second look sports the cold shoulder trend by adding a sleeveless top underneath. The same color group complements each other nicely rounding the outfit up in a put together, casual chic look.

What do you think? Would you wear any of these outfits?

What a clever idea to layer an off the shoulder top! I would have never thought of this, but it’s a great way to get more wear out of them now that cooler temps are rolling in.

The blush off-shoulder sweater is so pretty. Love both ways you styled it. I need a pin-stripe button down blouse. The more casual look is definitely more unexpected but oh my that wrap navy skirt is beautiful, Bogi. I agree that cold shoulders can definitely work for Fall and Winter.
