Short sleeved or spaghetti top dresses over long sleeved tops or tees have been all the rage lately. I can’t say I care for this trend, but this is a fashion blog, so it’s only right to give it a try. After spending some time in this outfit, I can report that I can care less for this “backwards trend”. It exudes a rather childish / high school flare. This trend is neither chic nor practical.
The dress in itself is a cute dress, to me personally a challenging piece for a number of reasons: The cutout details, the deep V-neckline and the A-line, short design makes it hard to layer. Pencil or straight cut dresses provide a lot more flexibility to layer, but A-line designs make it more difficult, since you have more fabric to work with. The prints are very loud and bold, so additional fabrics must be neutral and preferably without any outstanding textures. I chose neutral colors on top and added warm tights in eggplant, so the individual pieces blend better. The high booties add polish to the outfit.
What do you think? Would you try / wear this trend?
