I am indeed getting ready for the favorite season of the year, fall. This effortless ponte dress was made for desk jobs (and busy mornings). It comes in different colors and pairs well with blazers. Today I opted for this long, double faced cardigan to create an effortless, yet polished look.

As a soon to be mom, a wife and a working woman I appreciate fabric quality, classic designs and effortless style. Style has been evolving constantly during my adult life.

style for life

During my teenage years, I used to be a tomboy. A pair of flare corduroy pants were my signature outfit piece. In my early to mid-twenties, I was experimenting with style and fashion. I used to design my own clothes, pick out the fabric and have a seamstress make my vision reality. I remember having lots of fun and some frustration during those years while trying to figure out what fabric, neckline or type of pants flattered my body type the most.

Then as my career changed and went from spending most of my time at the desk to living out of suitcase, I was forced to be more practical and not try to pack a different pair of shoes and accessories for each outfit when on business travels. That was the end of my fashion conscious era and figuring out my style for life has started.

Over the years a lot has changed: I got married, moved to another continent and got back to the stable 9 to 5. My focus shifted to maintaining a lean wardrobe with versatile pieces that have good fabric quality and classic, clean cuts that work well several seasons down the road. It doesn’t just save money and time getting ready each morning, but I spend a whole lot less time on trying to clear my closet each season. Fast fashion is hard to resist, but it never pays off and most of those items end up either in the trash or a donation bag.

Depending on the occasion, I’ve developed outfit formulas.

my go to office style

I prefer the pencil skirt, boat neck top and mid-heel pump option for work. I used to love blazers that matched my bottom, but boy, oh boy do they take up a ton of space in your closet and I found that they were not very versatile.

My other corporate style favorite is the shift dress with or without a fitted jacket. Those types of dresses are true life savers on busy mornings and give you that elegant and business professional look.

my go to casual Friday style

This effortless ponte dress and long cardigan is the perfect example of what I call a laid back yet perfectly polished work outfit. When I used to work in an office with a more relaxed dress code, then you saw me wear skinny jeans with a fitted jacket and high heels. I absolutely love that combination and take any opportunity to wear it during my off-duty days.

my go to weekend style

It is not much different from my casual Friday outfits. An easy dress, sneakers or low heel shoes paired with a cropped jacket is a great option.

my go to special occasion style

Dress. Most definitely. Special occasion or not, I still like to keep things simple and maintain that classic design. I leave more play room for accessories, textures and prints  to create that special look.
